Curriculum

Accelerated Christian Education

Morning
Star School administers a ground-breaking curriculum known as
Accelerated Christian Education, or more informally, ACE. We are also
associated with the International Certificate of Christian Education
(ICCE) which is the UK-based certification board serving ACE schools
worldwide.

The
remarkably successful ACE curriculum has been developed to facilitate
individualised learning at different levels in the same classroom, or
'Learning Centre', as we call it. Each child works independently at a
private 'Work Station' at his own pace and capacity. The curriculum
adapts to your child's learning speed so that he works towards a
personal level of achievement. This ensures that no student is forced to
wait for the whole class to grasp a concept in order to proceed.
Conversely, it allows sufficient time for a student to work through
concepts he may have difficulty understanding. Therefore, it does not
discriminate between individual learning abilities and inspires your
child to achieve his learning potential.

PERSONAL ATTENTION

Not
enough emphasis can be placed on the benefit of dedicated and nurturing
staff who guide, assist and inspire learners to persevere and reach for
new heights. Two members of staff, a supervisor and a monitor, are
assigned to each learning centre, which never exceeds eighteen students.
With a teacher/learner ratio of 1:9, every child receives the
individual attention he requires. This ensures that each child is able
to obtain his personal best and nobody is ever neglected.

GOAL SETTING

Integral
to the learning process, goal setting allows your child to visualise
and plan daily progress. Playing an active role in his learning, each
child sets daily goals with the objective of completing them by the end
of the day, then marks his own work before proceeding again. Rewards are
gained for each successful step. This unique discipline instils
self-confidence and teaches your child responsibility and accountability
for his work, establishing a life-long appreciation for goal setting
and achievement.

MASTERY LEARNING

Every
student is encouraged to become autonomous in his studies. Constant
assessment in the form of regular 'Check-ups' and 'Self Tests' in each
module or PACE ensures excellent comprehension of each subject. This
approach reinforces honest achievement that results in advancement.
Progression to the next PACE is only permitted when mastery of the
current PACE has been clearly demonstrated.
